"I've evaluated 3 other programs and yours is by far the best!"
-John Tappero, CA
Communications Test Failure The first time you start KidsWatch a communications test is performed. If this test fails it indicates that your Internet security/firewall software is not allowing our web filter to access the internet. This is resolved by adding a rule/exception to your firewall which typically takes about one minute. KidsWatch has tested compatibility with many of the most popular Internet Security Software Packages and our findings are listed below.
To resolve a conflict with all other firewalls and Internet Security Software, add a rule to your personal firewall software allowing all communications to and from the Microsoft Windows Logon Manager, winlogon.exe for Windows® XP or kwmain.exe for Windows® Vista and Windows® 7. Both programs can be found in the c:\windows\system32 folder. Once you add the firewall rules you can rerun the communications test from the KidsWatch Options Web Filtering tab. KidsWatch technical support will be publishing articles with examples on how to add these rules for the most popular Internet security/firewall packages shortly.
